NACOGDOCHES, Texas — A 21-year-old Nacogdoches man will spend at least 25 years in prison in connection with a street racing accident that killed three people, including his cousin.

A judge on Wednesday sentenced Antonio Martinez to a maximum of 50 years in prison. Martinez will be eligible for parole after serving half the sentence.

Martinez pleaded guilty Monday to three charges of intoxicated manslaughter, three felony racing charges and a charge for escape.

In November 2006, Martinez and another man were racing their cars when Martinez struck another vehicle, killing a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old man. An 18-year-old cousin of Martinez riding with him was also killed.

In September, Martinez and two other inmates escaped from the Nacogdoches County jail. Martinez and one of the fugitives were recaptured three days later in San Antonio.
